My EX's transmission locks and unlocks constantly at between 45-55mph under light throttle. I had the trans replaced due to the diode issue under warranty about 50K ago. It shifts great with no shudder at all. The OD light does not flash and no check engine codes are present. It is getting really annoying plus it can't be good for the trans. It's almost as if the computer is commanding it to lock and unlock? Speed Sensor? Ideas? Fluid is nice and clean with no burnt smell.
Long story short I am selling my F350 with a BTS trans so I swapped the Excursion trans to the Dually and it is locking and unlocking in it also so that eliminates all but the sensors on the trans and the tranny. I replaced the MLP with the one from my BTS trans and that did not change anything. The only sensors left are the OSS and the ISS which I plan to replace with my BTS ones. The locking and unlocking is much better in the Dually with 4.10 gears but will still do it between 45mph and 50mph although not nearly as much. I watched the scanner and over 55 the Pulse Width Modulation goes to 100% full lockup and when it is locking and unlocking the Pulse width is varying. Am I on the right path with the OSS and the ISS or is it something else?
I will have to check the scanner again to look at the speed signals. The wiring look good and I didn't see any chafed wires or burnt wires or anything suspicious. I think I have ruled out an internal problem but not quite sure. Sensors are easy just don't want problems as I have sold the truck to a relative.
