Had this issue a few times. Park and neutral seem to work the best. Get on flat level ground and put the truck in park or neutral and shift between 2wd, 4x4 and 4x4 low then back to 2wd it should disengage. It might take a few times to do it. Not a huge fan of ESOF for this reason. Hope it helps out.

i have tried it, but has not worked. the trans case still is not disengaging neither is the front diff. Could something have gotten stuck on trans case?
1. disconnect the battery
2. Remove motor from t-case and manually switch it back to 2WD worked for my '97 and never did the same BS again
Removing the motor is very easy then just vise grip the shaft and turn it will show you what direction<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

hmmm that is a funky problem. did they work before you fixed the 4x4 problem? if so did you disconnect anything that could possibly lead to those circuits?

nope, when 4x4 was working before they were still like that. There is a wire to the ignition switch that does not have power could that be an issue with it? Its a large diameter wire red with blue stripe

Yes that could definetly be the problem. Follow that wire and see what is supposed to power it, test the circut for voltage and see where it drops. Maybe a short to ground or an open
