1974 F-250 4x4. Can you tell me what rears are on this. I was told by the PO that it has Dana 60's front and rear, but they look small compared to my 1999 F350.
The rear is a D60. The rear D60 is nothing to brag about. Thin axle tubes and small diameter axle shafts.
I can't make a judgement call on the front. A picture of the steering knuckle on the front will conclusively tell if it is a D60. Ball joints, it is a D44. King pins it is a D60. Where the top ball joint would be on a D44 the D60 has a large cap with 4 bolts holding it down.
I say very common D60 rear, and for the front it looks like a 74-75.5 Ford low pinion, drivers side closed knuckle, drum brake with 30 spline inners, 19 spline outers, small ujoints and weak knuckles D60.
But I am wrong all the time, so go here to double ck me.
77&79F250- I'm not experiencing any problems w/ the front rear. What inherent problems are there? Are you saying that the front year should be changed out. I was thinking later in time to switch to a disc front year.
