Well the spark plug wires on the 64 are due for a change. 20 years old? Have here a set of Moroso 7mm suppression wires. Good choice? They are listed for Flatties and other Fords, a universal type set.
Also a few choices whether to install 90 deg ends, 90 deg HEI, or the straight socket type. The latter is what's on the truck now, stock 57-73 FORD type distributor cap, Flamethrower coil and Ignitor.
Since these ignition wires also include the HEI type boots before I get to crimping anything, wondering if there's an HEI type cap and rotor that will fit on the '57 type Y block distributor?
Proably wrong But I have used wire core wires either in copper or stainless for years with nonresitser plugs. Either plug wires or genitor messed with others radios.
AFAIK, there is no "HEI" style cap. Have you made plug wires before? I'm 61 and been wrenching since I was a kid and never had any luck with those. The ends always come off when you pull the plug wire. Why mess with them when you can get a good custom set for cheap? It really isn't worth it just to save a few bucks.
There is an HEI style cap, the Duraspark rotor, cap adapter, and cap should fit onto a '57 up distributor.
Custom plug wires should stay together just fine if the crimps are good. It's pretty easy to find quality crimpers for 8mm wire. I don't know about the smaller stuff. I had 8mm Pertronix wires that worked perfectly, never an issue with the ends coming off. Still have them in a box with my points ignition stuff.

This style of V8 dizzy cap (has male ends) and adapter were introduced in 1977.
1974's with DuraSpark used the hipo dizzy cap (B7AZ-12106-A) that was brown. Ford replaced it in 1975 with the new H/D blue cap (D5AZ-12106-A) that was used thru 1976.
1957/73 V8 non hipo's used B7A-12106-A which is the black dizzy cap.
But, hipo or not, with DuraSpark (1974/76) or without...you can use the blue cap on all 1957/76 V8 Passenger Cars/Trucks, 1966/76 Bronco's & 1969/76 Econolines.
Yeesh. Never buying these DIY wires again. Probably saved five bucks, they are a PITA. Wait, had to buy a crimping tool. They go together fine, nice tight crimps just not worth the hassle.
