I am looking to get some new spark plug wires and wondering if anyone knows of a good set that takes into account the FE's //\\ plug configuration. I would like them in red if possible; but above all else, I want good quality ones. The last two sets I have had (Autolite and Jacobs) both would sometimes loose their crimp from the wire (stayed hooked to the plug) when I would remove them. I am using the MSD wires from my Bronco's 302 now. The quality seems to be there, but there is too much interference between the boots at the center plugs when I try them on my F250's 410.
Sounds like you need to use a TFI cap. You can rob the required parts from a junkyard and put them on you existing dizzy. I have no problems with crossfining with my MSD wires. I love them.
I haven't had any problems on the distributor side of the wires, it has always been the sparkplug side wire crimp that has pulled off. I am not against to changing distributor caps; however, if that will allow me to use a better overall wire set.
Use a little dielectric grease inside the boot when you put them on. Makes it easier to get them off. I like the big cap because the wires will not come loose like the small cap sometimes does. Also, with a better ignition system, you want the big cap to avoid crossfire. I think I used a set for a 460 on my 390.
try the dielectric grease inside the boots of the plug wires. as far as new wires go try the taylor spiro pro 8mm's u can even get them in red. thats. what color mine are. they cost me 80 bucks back in 96 but they are the best wires i have ever bought. still on my engine as we speak.
