So I live in a Snow Resort, kinda nice area. Wife forgets to lift the wipers and just turns on the truck and hits the wipers to clear 10 inches of snow. Finally it killed the motor.
Funny I find there is actually a wiper motor recall to do with this very problem. The gears on the end are weak and fail. So I look into buying another motor as any dealer that has ever touched my car has done me wrong and I find 2 different motors available. 40-2010 and an 85-2010. Both will fit and both available from many different companies. The 85 series or Pro series has the newer recalled heavy ended gear set and "Special" grease.
I ended up ordering off Amazon as they are the only one that guaranteed fitment and most all others say it will not fit a 2001 Ex. EBAY, and most auto parts stores differ on what will and will not fit. Tuesday I get the motor and I am sure it will fit fine. In the meantime I am trying to pull apart the old one to see just how bad the gears ground out.
You never know how nice wipers are until they are gone. Even a bad blade is better than nothing. I love RainX but with snow and dirt it is not enough.
I am sure it will go fine. It only took 30 minutes to get it all out of the truck and I think it will go back in in less than 30 minutes. New motor not a rebuilt. To hide the linkage a bit more I painted it black while it sits on the bench.
Naw she is cute, smells pretty cooks amazing and has put up with me for 32 years. No need to push it.
Apocalypse; Photos are worthless with parts all over and nothing to compare. Anyone can see a picture of the motor just by looking at Autozone or Amazon. Comparative photos or photos that would support anything new are best when everything is available. If my posts are pointless to you then stop reading them. I would think the past would have made that obvious.
Sorry if I offended you, I wasn't meaning to come off that way That meme is just easy to use and I thought was kind of funny. I'm only really interested in how to remove it than anything else. Mine works fine, but who knows if it will next year. Again I apologize if you took that the wrong way, I sincerely didn't mean anything by it and hope you can forgive me.

The difference between the 40-2010 and the 85-2010 is the 40 is reman and the 85 is new.
Was going to take pictures and stuff but it was so easy and took only 10 minutes to reassemble. 5 Bolts hold the entire assembly in the truck, 3 bolts hold the wiper motor to the assembly and one attaching the motor to the arm to spin. 9 screws hold the cowling on and 6 plastic panel clips.
WOW I know really exciting huh. Well maybe when it is above 40 I will take it apart again and take pictures until then I am happy to be sitting by the fire again.
Immortal you will find it one of the most simple tasks to do on the truck.
1. 9 screws to remove cowling
2. 6 plastic clips under hood for wire bundle and front of cowling.
3. remove wiper arms . 1st fold up to remove tension then pull spring clip on side to slip arm off. No prying or serious pulling needed here they come off rather easy.
4. remove antenna
5. open hood and slide out cowling
6. 5 bolts hold assembly to body 2 each side and one in the bottom middle.
7. wiggle and slide out entire wiper assembly
8. 3 bolts hold motor body to frame and one bolt holds arm to motor shaft.
9. 6 plug wire loom pulls off back side after assembly is out.
The hardest part is wiggling out the assembly without scratching the paint. Pictures would be cute but it was so plain and open with nothing hidden or tricky I forgot to snap pics.
Have fun. Ebay and Amazon are best buys, Rock auto was also cheap but it would not match motor to the EX.
My wipers suddenly only works on high, not on low and intervals. In addition it does no longer park right. Do I need to replace the motor, or is there some electronic part that controls the motor?
