No dripping and no smoke, losing oil that quickly..... it's injector o-rings. If you were losing that much oil out the turbo, you would 100% see smoke. And if it were coming out somewhere else, it would be all over your driveway.
Since the injectors are already out, get new o-rings and fix it. But do it right the first time, buy MOTORCRAFT o-rings. If you go to the local parts store to buy Chinese made o-rings, you'll do the job again within a few hundred miles.
Put on the new o-rings and coat them and the injector bodies with fresh oil. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes, then install. When seating the injectors, set a block of wood on top and tap them down with a rubber mallet until you feel them bottom out. Use a level across all 4 injectors to ensure all of them are seated evenly and you don't have one sticking up. Pull the glow plugs and evacuate the oil and fuel out of the cylinders. Then bolt everything up and you'll be good to go.
You're going to have to crank a while to build pressure again on the first start. Also once it starts, take it out and drive it for a good 30 minutes or so. The motor needs to get fully warmed up to burn off the excess oil and to seat the rings properly. When it's warmed up, let it open up on a few WOT runs to get all the air out of the system. After that it'll run like a champ.
pocket, can i ask why the injectors need to sit for 30 minutes with oil on them?im guessing that is for absorption?
So that the o-rings contract to the proper size. They get stretched out when you install them. The risk of rolling an o-ring is greater when stretched.

CO PSD Club has been gone for some time. I was lazy for an even longer amount of time.
