Mirror Question....Please bare with me...

Please help. I have spent hours reading all the info on the upgrading of the power side mirrors to power folding ones, but all the info seems to stop just shy of where I need to be.

My Dad totaled his 08 Exp EL Limited in a multi car crash on the highway....luckily he wasn't hurt largely thanks to the truck. That said as we all know the Ins co's don't make you whole....Long story short he had to buy a lower model to get back into the Exp.

He has a 2012 XLT Premium, (Somewhere in the info I also saw it called the King Ranch) It has all the bells and whistles except the power running boards and power fold mirrors. All he misses is the mirrors...every time I am in it with him...he misses them. I would like to upgrade them.

Has anyone determined if the wiring is there and all that is needed are the mirrors and the switch? (I sometimes heard a relay as well.) I am not adverse to wiring, spent my career troubleshooting and wiring Locomotives...Just would like to know if someone has the info or can direct me where to go to know conclusively how deep I need to get.

Thank you very much for indulging me.

Keith

I have experience with mirrors on explorers.
You can put aviator mirrors on an Explorer. They have turn signals built in.
However the wiring is not there.
