I feel a bit foolish about this, but I can not figure out how this works.
1989 F250 Std. Cab Lariat XLT Key actuator on steering column.
When you turn the key to start the truck what exactly causes the key to "spring back" to the run position?
I have gotten a new key actuator assembly but I do not see it "springing" back when it is released.
I have looked at photos of the ignition switch itself, but see nothing to cause the key to return to run automatically. What am I missing?
I can and do manually return the key to the "run" position, so it appears that all the internals work as expected except for the return issue.
Can someone explain to me how this works?
Thanks
TNCritter
the spring is in the ignition switch on the lower part of the steering column.
what was your reason for replacing the key cylinder in the first place, no spring return action, or the truck was not starting?
Hey TJC
Thanks I am trying to correct the "return to run" spring issue
By the way, from another thread... I ordered a set of those wiper arms with the spray jets in the arm, I will post what I think about them after I receive them.
How hard is it to get to the spring in the column for the key "return to run"?
Is it a separate piece or is it part of the ignition switch connector?
