62 Econoline Cooling Question

62 Econoline Cooling Question
Hi There,
I'm in the process of installing a new Champion radiator into my 62 e100 pickup, and thought float a couple newbie questions.
I live in S. California, so heat is generally a consideration. I'm contemplating which way to go cooling fan-wise; A Flex fan, an Electric, or both.
If an electric, which side of the radiator to mount it on, and the pull vs push matter.
I'd like to be able to forgo the flex fan along with it's parasitic power loss, but do not want constant vaporlock, overheating in the constant hot weather slow traffic, and was actually thinking of running the flex AND an electric.
Any words of wisdom out there?
Many Thanks for your time, Aztecmike

The best way to go would be an electric Puller fan.
Pullers are more efficient than Pushers. Running 2 fans wether they're both electric or one electric one engine driven will cause the fans to "fight" each other.
The Lincoln Mark VIII fan is GREAT but I doubt it will fit, believe some Taurus's had 2 speed electric fans that would be a good fit for the application.
Pictures, we need pictures. haha

I fit a 250 head on my 170 & haven't looked back. It cools soooo much better than the early heads. not sure the ramifications of doing this conversion on a 200 tho.
all's i run is the original fan on mine and haven't had much problems here when the weather gets into the 90's in the summertime. But on the real hot days i usually drive one of my modern vehicles to take advantage of the modern convieniances on em' But if i'm going where there's no chance of stop n' go traffic can't beat windows down and front vents open for a pure econoline expieriance. cept' you can't hear the original radio very well(-: .
