1980 F350 4x4 Rare Beauty & 5 speed

She's a beaut!!! I think it's pretty common for ford truck lovers to instantly fall in-love with the 70's style dents and highboys. They definitely are iconic and tough and really exude American grunt. In my opinion, the Bullnose 80-86 style is the forgotten child. Perhaps it's the uncanny resemblance to the 87-97 style that you see everywhere or the longing for the old dent-side. Regardless of why, you just don't see many bulls out there and it's a damn shame! When I found this girl a year ago, I was one of many who had no love for the bullnose and was stuck on dents! I'm glad I fell in love all over again and gave this truck the attention it deserved.

Sure, ford trucks aren't "Rare" but 1980 was only the second year of one-ton F350 4x4's. This truck is dressed up in the ultra premium Victorian two-tone paint scheme. To boot, it's a Ranger Lariat! You really just don't see these. It's been tastefully upgraded to a ZF 5 speed with OD. It will do 75mph at roughly 2,600rpm. The motor is # matching 400ci that has been completely rebuilt (roller/rocker cam, heads, aluminum intake, 4 barrel eddy, to full headers and magnaflow exhaust.) This thing hauls A$$. The 400 has a tremendous amount of torque and will no joke run in 5th gear at 900rpm just fine. I was pleased to see that the PO took the time and $$ to rebuild the 400 and not just swap in a 460. 4:10 gears, dana 50 front (tires wear evenly) 10.25 rear. Stock height on 265/75/16 Kenda Klevers with 16" aluminum shoes. The best part is that this truck is fast and handles like a new truck. Zero body roll, steering is tight tight tight. 1 finger on the wheel at 85...no prob.

Interior is mostly stock with exception of media deck replacing the obsolete stereo. Wood grain steering wheel really dresses up with the ranger lariat wood trim. The A/C has been converted to R-134 and blows icy cold. No need to find costly R-12 . What really impresses is the rust free nature of this truck. The doors shut like new and even the tailgate closes without holding the handle up!

So, yes it's for sale and will be posted in the classifieds. PM me if interested, the truck is about 1 hour West of Pittsburgh. I wanted to put it here as well because it's a rare truck in excellent condition and if you're reading this....you probably appreciate it!

Nice truck. Just about everything has been changed around on it though.

1980 should have F O R D across the front of the hood and the more-squared-off side-view mirrors.

But it's nevertheless a good-looking truck, my own 1981 4x4 F350 will likely never look as good (nor have a ZF5).

But I'll keep the lettering across the hood.

I was wondering that about the hood, no holes in the hood for ford letters. Mirrors are aftermarket unfortunately the stockers were rusting . A few other things have been changed around but it retains much of the stock look. Is the interior seat/headliner stock fabric? Thanks for the comments!

The seat may or may not be; but the headliner and sun visors definitely aren't....

Good looking truck. I agree with Chris' assessment of changes, but it does look good. And 400's can certainly haul.

I've always been a bullnose fan, I still have both of my 84s. The IDI is suited up again for another season of snow plow duty. The other one continues to hibernate in the garage, patiently waiting to finish the frame off restore. That is a gorgeous 1980! A couple small interior items to address and she'll be mint. I have grown to like adding modern updates to these older trucks, ZF swaps, 3g conversions, etc. It really improves the drivability and reliability. The only thing that scares me on the 80-81 models is the "swiss cheese frames" love em anyway!

So everything got the swiss cheese frame in 80-81? I thought it was just the F100-150.

Nice looking truck.

Yup it's cheesed. Hasn't given me any problems but it is full of holes. I pulled a 12k trailer across the country with the truck and it performed well. Only thing I wish it had different would be a brake upgrade, especially when the roads are wet. Thanks for the comments. I too wish the interior was not all jumbled. It had a dark dark maroon dash that was full of cracks so I put the dash pad over. I am now wondering if the stock dash would have been tan?
