Changing air to hydraulic shocks

Good day all,New to the forum, and will introduce myself when I have more time.
Question: We have an '07 Expedition that really needs shocks. They are the air shocks and the garage we deal with is having a terrible time finding a new set. I know shops always want to replace in kind, but could we not get them to replace with hydraulic shocks.Would there be any handling issues?
It's the dead of winter here,so its kind of a safety issue. My wife has been dealing with it as I was in the hospital, but I would like to have as much info as I can when I go in.
So ; air to hydraulic - yes or no.
Thanks' in advance,
Ken

Lots of people have installed hydraulic/gas shocks in lieu of the factory air shocks.
Either air or hydraulic/gas shocks are available on line if you can't find them locally. Of course there may be a time wait while they are shipped to the shop you are doing business with.

GummyMonster,

I don't know if you know this - On the 2007 and newer Expeditions & Navigators that have air shocks only the back ones are the air bags type.

Prior years had air shocks front & rear.

I replaced the air ride on my 98 Nav, and hated it. I have since sold the 98 and purchased a 07. I won't make that mistake again
