Well, I just put a set of air shocks on my firends van today and the large part rises when we fill it at least thats what it does on his.
Hope it helps,
-Chris
air shocks should be avoided at all costs as they put the load on the shocktowers/mounting points that were not designed to support it thats what springs are for.the exception to this would be if thevehicle was designed to use air shocks from the factory.regards, shovelhead
Well, I tried some leaf spring helpers and that is not working. Going to have the air shocks taken off. I got a 98 Merc Mountaineer 4X4 V8. Just need some solid shocks for rear axle. I prefer a firm ride. What about adjustable rear shocks? And if so what makes them adjustable? I'm going to get the work done this afternoon after work. Any suggestions would be helpful!!

Found a place to have the helper springs installed. Pep Boys and similar place don't do that kind of work.

Yes, I've heard so many opinions on shackles. Add a leaf seems to be alittle safer be it that it's just an addition to what is already present...leaf springs.
Finally had an extra leaf springs added. I felt it was the safest and no long term damange would occur. I love the ride now.....slightly raised in the back and handles soooo much betta. I still have the air shocks on (Gabriels) but no air in them as they also act as normal shock when air is not used. I'm gonna get these replaced also. Any suggestion on good stable shock to compliment the extra leafs that were added?
