air ride problem

hello, i have a 1998 eddie b. with air ride

my prob is air pump for the shocks is not working, i feel like i have no shocks when i drive. is there a way to diagnose whats happening. i dont hear and sound change , whwn i flip the air switch on off.

also i took it to a shop to have the shocks replaced, they the dealer only has the air shocks, and they are mad expensive.

is there a conversion kit i can use.. can someone recomend after market shocks

Does the air compressor change the ride of the shocks or the leveling of the truck? I was not aware that Edie Bauer's had air ride shocks on them. Thats pritty cool. I know some of the Explorer Unlimeted's had air ride. But I always thought it was an air bag type suspension. (Not really shure on that) My truck is a 1995 Eddie Bauer 4x4 with regular shocks. If it is just used to change the ride and not the leveling of the truck, I would imagine the Ranco RS9000 air adjustable shocks would be practicaly unbeatable!
Just my opinion. I need regular shocks on mine prity bad, but I will be using MONROE Sensa-Trac. I've heard allot of good about them. My '98 S-10 Chevy Blazer had BILSTEIN shocks and it rode ROUGH !!!!
