I think that I had the wrong idea regarding repositioning of the crossmember in my 66 f250 when replacing the three speed with a c6. I had in mind, the transmission mount which is bolted, not riveted. Upon retrieving the tranny from a '71, I believe the members here were referring to the large crossmember adjacent to the cab mounts. Is that the one which I should change the rivets (6 or 8) to bolts that will allow me to pull the trans from underneath?? We ended up pulling the engine and going out the front in any case. But, if someone would clarify this for me to make sure I got it right this time!
I just pulled and replaced the C6 in the 65 crew cab. The cross-member that is currently riveted in 8 places is the one they are referring to and which must be removed to pull the trans from underneath. My rivets are out of mine and grade 8 bolts are reinstalled in their place. The trans mount rearward cross-member should be bolted in already and must be removed also when pulling the trans. Hope this clarifies your question.

Yes! Thank you for the specifics. Funny how one (like me) misses the boat until you actually get to working on that section...and things become perfectly clear. Thanks for your help....I'll get it taken care of with grade 8's as you suggest.
The rear engine mounting bracket (aka cross member) is riveted to the frame rails.

The rear engine mounting bracket (some people mistakenly call this a cross member) bolts to the frame rails.
btw: C6 not available in F100/350's until 1968 and then only with 360/390's.
