im installing remote start in my wifes car and i cant find any diagrams on hard wiring or W2W the the starter to the bypass module. the starter is an avital 4103 and the module is idatalink tbsl-pl. I have been at this for 2 solid days now, called all the support lines, even an installer. appearantly its top secret classified information... driving me nuts
thanks tony, ive been all over the 12volt forum and got a lot of useful info.i still dont quite understand w2w wiring. maybe i need wiring for dummies, or a beer lol.
what type of alarm? I remember when I did my jeep it was a pain in the a$$ to get by the chipkey with an aftermarket starter so I bought one from the manufacturer of my alarm(clifford) directed com
the starter is avital 4103xl and the bypass module is idatalink tbsl-pl. if i knew it was going to be this big of a pain i would have never bought it.
would be a peice of cake if there was more info available but directed and all the other guys web sites are so restricted, you have to be an authorized dealer to access anything. then they charge the dealers a "subscription fee" to access their forums and tech support. i had less trouble putting central air in my house.
If you are using wire to wire, you should be able to match the wiring from the bypass module to the avital, this would be something easier done on the "bench" as this is only communication between the GM passlock and remote start to say "hey there's a good key in the ignition".
Once the avital receives this it will allow the remote starter to control the ACC on IGN on, and Start. Just as though you were turning the key.
Did your bypass come with the wiring diagram for which wires are what? That should help while looking at the RS wiring diagram to see which will connect to each other, then usually the bypass will have to be wired into the ignition ring, to read and store the key code, as well as sometimes they have to be powered separately when using W2W instead of D2D.
Maybe more specific info about the vehicle would help narrow down the wiring.
