I have an 2000 Lariet that I was thinking of putting a remote start unit on. I know you need to do something with the PATS system so that the security system works in conjunction with the remote start unit. Is this a difficult task or is it worth the extra $150 to have it installed. I am thinking of going with a Polar Start unit. Any thoughts?
I've never installed a Polar Start but most remote starter manufacturers make PATS bypass kits. You'll need one.
I personally like Astro Start remote starters and they are Canadian too.
I think that $150 is a reasonable price to get it installed. If you've got some wiring experience on trucks and a good wiring diagram it's not too difficult but there is quite a bit to hook up and if you don't get it right it won't work.
