Remote Starter

Does anyone know if the wiring for a remote starter is already in my 2000 Explorer? I have read where you can buy the remote starter and it plugs into existing wiring. Is this true? How can I find it?

Remote Starter

Hi calaski8123 and welcome to FTE

I've installed quite a few remote starters and have never seen one that just plugged in. Even the genuine Ford dealer installed ones dont.

Remote Starter

Thanks... I thought it sounded too easy. Any suggestions? Just want to warm it up in the winter, so I have all summer to do it.

You might find that you use your remote starter in summer too to cool down the vehicle before you get in

The Ford kits seem good and I really like Astro Start kits.
If you're going to install it yourself be aware that it can be a pretty big job if you're not too used to doing lots of wiring.
