Maybe so, but the hose had a Ford part number tag on it. Didn't bother to try and look it up. It was just an old, cracked vacuum line, got replaced with another and is running fine. Doesn't seem to be any reason for an elbow, it is a reasonably straight shot with the vaccuum line to the intake, no small radius bends at all.

Once you get this replaced,if it doesn't fix your problem, clean the MAF sensor and then possibly replace your Idle Air Control.
