What are you all using for the pcv hose? To connect the pcv valve to the base of the carb. I am not worried about reproducing anything and am really not interested in a $23 hose. But I do need a reinforced hose so it won't collapse. The parts guys at the local stores seem confused, and heater hose just aint getting the job done.
In my case its a 360 with the stock two barrel carb.
'still using the OEM hose... it doesn't have very much vacuum as to warrant a reinforced hose IMO. And if it is collapsing, then the PCV is stuck or the hose is plugged.
I use a formed hose that I bought a few years back, and I don't recall where. What issues are you having with the heater hose? The vac. shouldn't be that great.
well the heater hose is collapsing. PCV valve itself seems to be ok. It rattles a bit after wiping it off. Doesn't appear to be stuck or all gunked up. I was looking at getting a new gromet for the passenger side valve cover where the pcv valve goes, as it seems a bit loose.
Did a new search and am now finding Gates hose rated for gas, oil, and emissions...guess I can try that.
Is there a way to test the pcv valve? What would be causing too much suction/compression?

thank you
Just replaced mine, gas line from advance and works fine. (390 fe) If you get a new grommet check it before you leave the store. The one the computer selected was to small. Went in and got another one, worked but was real tight.
Kind of off subject but are you guys using for breather filter material. Advance use to sell a white round filter you could slip in from top of the pvc breather. They don't carry them any more.
Emissions hose, and "high-pressure fuel injection" hose is better hose than regular gas line. it will have printing on it, to brag about it's rating. Avoid silicone and true-rubber hose for this application. Hot-oil eats rubber, and softens silicone.

2x with the EMISSION hose or go with the OEM one as look how long it lasted,
It's a thick hard formed oil resistant hose.
Stay a way from any soft rubber or plastic hose as it will collapse when it get hot after say a hour of driving on warm days.
The PCV hose & valve cover grommet all needs to be in good working order system to suck all the moisture out of the engine. It the VC PCV is loose split it won't suck out all the moisture as it was designed for.
Also if your not running a thermostat or one to low of temp you'll get a milky white formation build up in the valve cover in the winter months.

You can get push-lock hose by the foot at most parts stores. It is oil resistant and rated up to 200psi so it shouldn't collapse. I believe 3/8" is the size you need. This type hose is good for oil lines and transmission coolers also.
