Are early and late ICP sensors "interchangeable"?

Happy New Year all -

Quick question - Are there any known issues with using a 1999-2003 ICP sensor (F6TZ-9F838-A) in a 1994-1998.5 engine (instead of the early ICP sensor - F4TZ-9F838-A)?

Thanks again Aaron for the help with the fuel filter/regulator. It is on and the truck is running!

I am sorry for not providing enough information - I have a few "irons in the fire" this morning! I hate it when people do not post enough information and here I am starting the New Year out by doing it!

I am actually running the late model sensor in the truck right now (after installing a Termnator HPOP), but I am getting a P1211 code.

I was wondering if the range and scales were different enough to possibly be the cause of the code (before I spend the $125 on the appropriate sensor).

I have taken readings and it seems to run OK, but the numbers look a little off:

Cold idle:
ICP - 750 psig
IPR - 16%

Low Idle (warm):
ICP - apprx 580 psig
IPR - 11%

WOT (engine at operating temp):
ICP - 2800 psig
IPR - 36-38%

No problems..glad that issue is done.
I believe you are onto something on the ICP . did you get a t500 for the right year and IPR matches?

I don't know specifically what year it is and you prob already thought it.

I did specify for the right year (1997), but not sure how it could be verified upon receipt - not real familiar with the later model 7.3's. I will go back and double check the IPR but I am pretty sure that it is correct (it is new from AutoNation and I always include the VIN when ordering parts for this engine).

I had some problems with the first HPOP I received (the pump flange surface was pitted and scratched quite a bit (was not my original pump that I received) and one of the fittings had a mangled thread) so I sent it back. The one that I received as a replacement had a severely damaged box when it arrived, but the pump itself looked OK, (but it was only wrapped in a few wraps of newspaper though).

I installed the second one.

I would start with a proper ICP.
Did the pump gasket look the same as the old one? If the pump is wrong the gasket will look different also.

I will try the ICP. The pump gaskets were the same.
