2015 BS thread. Bring it!
Hey, looks like Dustin is alive and well! CSC would be a real kick in the azz. Like Roy said, bust azz and it absolutely will pay off. Having said that, I really do not envy anyone who has to visit Ft. Benning, but at least you are not there during the red flag summer days. I presume they still have the old Worlds Fair Towers that some folks can get a free "E" ticket ride on.....The Military Museum there is a really neat site too, but I'll bet you've already gone through that. Yes, we were taken on a tour of the National Infantry Museum and we able to see the movie "In Search of Honor" which is a cavalry movie with a little bit of history for us scouts.
I can say that many things have changed, and some are absolute BS. We have "peer reviews" in the Army now, which is basically a popularity contest. Its one thing for the to critique you, its another to say whether they are combat trustworthy and if they should be recycled or separated from the Army. So far, because im a: hard-a** and stickler for SOP and ways that I have learned to maximize efficiency, not a complete PT stud, and have no problem calling out meat-heads and trouble-makers on their issues that drill sergeants have nailed 'em for, im not a popular man!
It sounds like I may get an AIT recycle, so ill just start black phase over. which isn't all bad. its pretty easy if you ask me. the only downsides are that I may lose my duty station, lose my SBCT status (stryker brigade combat team, so I operate on a stryker platform; to heck with being light or bradley (heavy)) and have to spend more time down there.
there's plenty more I could babble about but i think thats enough
, if y'all have any questions for me, I have and answer! just maybe not the one you were looking for.
When I made E3 and started taking charge of a couple of very minor **** ant things, I was going to save the Navy from themselves and all those nasty little non rated / non strikers coming up behind me in the Duty Section. Then, probably just in the nick of time, I ran into a grown up school they called DWEST immediately followed by SERE - and in those days it was not incremented - you got the whole enchilada no matter what your job description was. You got thrown in with some SEALs being trained up for Viet Nam and other points being taught by SEALs with a nasty attitude and advised by Navy and Army (Green Beret) people that had escaped from POW camps and you shaped up or shipped out in one hell of a hurry! Seventy five people started that class and there was like 30 of us left to graduate. Made me see things from just a little different perspective.
Stick with it and just be one of the "troopers" for now. Just sit back relax and do what you have to do, but leave the NCO stuff to the NCO's for now. You are in the stage where you do have to prove you have your teams back, not run it.

There are those that get a sour attitude for any correction, even for something as minor as fix your collar or tuck in your boot laces. Humans are funny creatures. But hey, i'm one of those funny creatures!
Thanks gents, its good to be home for a few days. don't go back until Jan. 2nd

As an E-5 I tried to correct a E-9........ONCE.....
In the Army NG while on active duty for a period of time and after being appointed 2nd Lieutenant (acting) for a 3 month stretch, I thought it would be a good idea to correct the 1st Shirt (Company First Sergeant) on a couple of issues involving a couple of guys in my Platoon, that had been causing all of us some consternation while at Ft. Ord.
Like Roy, I decided that for my own well being and the desire to eventually leave with an Honorable Discharge and to avoid being the only El Tee (acting) on KP, that it was a one time "learning experience" not to be repeated.
Thanks to all you Military guys for your service!!
The only shoveling around here is in the horse barn. Since my sister is the only one with horses there now - she sent ours to Montana w/o our knowledge (isn't that something we could hang her for?) - not my job man, she and her hubby are on their own.
