My mentor and mining partner (now passed away, damn it...) sold an old building in Pendleton to the city for $350,000 with the stipulation that he got to keep the main beams. 6 beams 36" wide and 72" tall, 50' long! He sold them for $40,000 EACH!
I've never understood ripping them down and sending them to the landfill. I would much better tear them down and salvage the material.

If I was just 20 years younger.......... I was asked to salvage an old wooden grain elevator that has over 4 MILLION board feet of lumber in it, but I'm just to old to take on that massive a project........
