I don't screw around on tires. My vehicles are regularly on the interstate and may be a long ways from home. 2 of my trailers are due for tires. Tread is still good on the big trailer but those tires are 12 years old.
Even at that I've pitched the rubber off 2 in the last 3 years. One was an E rated cooper on the front of my F350, had about 80% tread. Tore up the fender pretty good. The other was a BFG on my single axle trailer. Another 10+ year old tire with maybe total 5000 miles on it.
