Intermitent Wipers

Hey all,

I researched this on this site a while back and came to the conclusion that all I needed was this (upgrading from non-intermitent):

That's not the case though is it - I also need a control box, correct?

You're correct, you also need the control box. Once you get that, it's all plug n' play.

From what I understand you need the intermittent w/s switch and control box. Here is some old info, but it might help.

Two different types of windshield wipers, two different wiper switches. Two speed wiper switches have a low & high speed.
Intermittent (delay) wipers were optional on 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79 Bronco's. Intermittent is not another name for low speed!

I started to do this a few years back and stalled.

I got a control box from E bay, and bought a new intermittent switch. Things physically plugged together. The result wasn't right. If I remember correctly, during the intermintent part of the switch, I'd get one single swipe, and then during low speed, I got high speed, aside for Off, that's all I got.

I still have the parts but gave up. I think I read somewhere more recently that I might have to do some kind of wiring modification. I thought at the time that maybe there was some kind of cold solder situation inside the control box? Or am I reading that there are two styles of control box and intermintent switch that need to match?

I drove mine today first time in the misty rain and realized I don't have the desirable delay feature. I found a new NOS switch on eBay if anyone is still interested.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1973-1979-FORD-F100-350-TRUCK-INTERMITTENT-WINDSHIELD-WIPER-SWITCH-/221627219789?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1978%7CMake%3AFord&hash=item339a02ff4d&vxp=mtr

I kept looking and found a control box, switch and harness (used) for quite a bit less than the new switch so I bought it. I installed some new Rain-X (16") wiper blades too. Much better than the rotten things I had on it. The first set I got from Wally World were 15" and did not come with the bayonet adapter so back they went. They were also much shorter than the ones the PO installed too.
