This set is out of 89 Grand marquis. I am mocking up not to happy with the ac pump had to move out past the valve cover. Out in left field.on the left under ac pump is the smog pump area,on the right under the Alt. is the power steering pump,which I wont use.This set up uses two belts with a tension. Still would like to change the position of ac pump.Still is a lot cheaper than those real nice billet models.George
Interesting point about water pump rotation. How do I determine which direction the water pump was originally designed to turn? The engine is currently on an engine stand but the water pump doesn't turn either way because of drop. My friend felt responsible for the drop and bought me an aftermarket pump.
The easiest way is to determine rotation direction is to determine which timing cover you have...They need to match. Note the angle of the ports on the cover at bottom right.
You can probably Id the cover by part # (It is usually embossed at 6 O'clock relative to the water pump snout.
