Little garage update, enended up pulling the rear axle to rebuild the spring bushings and shackles. There may have been lots of crusty grease.... but it was all wore out.
Lookin kinda sad with no rear axle:

The internals were all ok, except for this spider thrust washer. Glad I spotted it:
Just wondering iif anyone has steering pictures out there. I struck out on google. This pitman arm just looks messed up to me with the bend on it. Any thoughts or comparative pics?
thanks, Vic
That's what I was afraid of. I have been researching the steering a little. Looks like it's car steering for the half ton pickups. Best I can tell the basic number is 3590. Just gotta figure out the start, 11A maybe. Thanks for snapping that pic!
I wish I had a cool story about finding a million bucks in the pickup. But this one will have to do.
I was looking in the door at the window to see why it was sticky and noticed a coin at the bottom. I rigged up a retrieval tool out of a brake line and some mechanics wire to get it out. Turned out to just be some peso thing that's not very old. But still kind of neat!
You think yours looks bad with no rear axle.....Ok, this HAS a rear axle but it;s missing all the bolts between the halves and it's all rusty between.....
GB, looks like some kinda crazy blown out independent suspension!
I was pretty excited today to move the truck around a little under its own power. First time I actually drove it and stopped! Next on the list is front tires and get the radiator fixed.
Thanks guys. And don't worry GB, not salt for this old truck! We have lots of salt on the roads here, but more twards town. I'm off the beaten path a little. The other truck is an 85 dodge. My ma bought it new and it's just kinda been around ever since. Haven't driven it in a long time. Probably gunna be a plow truck pretty soon tho.
