6.0 surging, rough dile, etc

Hey guys.

It's been a while since I've visited these forums since owning my 6.0.

I sold it a while back to a friend who has recently been having problems with it.

It's a 2005 with the following: Updated STC, dummy plugs, standpipes, FICM, banjo bolts.

Lately it's been randomly surging at stop and is now running rough/no start when hot. He still has the scangauge installed, but it's been a while since I've interpreted the numbers. I see the ICP reading at ~675 while trying to start. It just sputters and dies when the engine is warm. When they did the last fuel filter change they didn't change the one on the passenger rail. I told them to start with this, but feel the warm no-start is indicative to an oil pressure issue.

Any guidance on what else I can check? It's been a while since I've been in the loop. Thanks a lot.

-Eric

how long ago did you do bango bolts? I thank the surging is coming from Air getting into the Fuel line.

The banjo bolts were done about 2 years ago.

There was no CEL, but I'll have to check for codes next time I'm over there. I'll grab the IPR and ICP values hot and cold as well.

I would check the fuel filter housing, fuel rail, check the cap, banjo bolts and all the lines leading back to the fuel pump. Check for anything that might be loose or just that little bit wet, because I believe you're getting air into the fuel system which will definitely cause the engine to surge.

Just to follow up, the owner replaced the lower fuel filter and all has been well ever since.
