Hey guys. Can we change gears for a sec......
IV gor until the 31st to get 100. Cattle moved off some propertie I have. If I don't get them moved I could lose them... iv managed to get some moved - covered 700 miles just today.....

Haven't lost any oil and truck is running and pulling nicely. The cold start up issue still remains......

IV got kinda a new issue. The truck makes a weird grinding noise when turning right - it's not a grind tho - it's weird...... at lower speeds it sounds like a Jake brake or exhaust brake. [ anyone ever drove for crst] the stock cheap Jake brake - that's what it sounds like...... at higher speeds it's more aggressive sounding..... it only does it when turning right [even slightly]
now here Is wear it gets weird.
At higher speeds. 50mpg or greater.
If you put the clutch in - it disappears but you can feel this rumble feel - like I'm driving on the rumble strip.

Here is some more weirdness.
clutch In - higher speeds - rev engine to 2000rpms or so - noise returns...... I swear this this is a running gear issue but why in the world does engine rpm seem to effect it? Anyone got a clue..... The truck it's self is as smooth as can be - it feels like it's floating on air.

Also can someone please tell me how iv managed to live this long with out this truck? I'm so in love........ I'll be addressing the other issues asap but I can't lose the cattle.

Thanks guys.

Theory alert!! The noise you describe sounds like an exhaust manifold leak on the driver side. When you turn the wheel right, you are deflecting the noise aft - straight at you. Does the noise get louder/fade as you turn harder?

I did a cold compression test with the starter cranking - 365-380 PSI.

Look for black soot around the exhaust manifolds for leaks.

Seriously...... are you play a prank on me? Differently sounds like it could be coming from this area....

As far as turning sharp. Yes and idk. In Town it kinda comes and goes - even with out turning the wheel any less or anymore.... [ you can turn it - hear it - hit a bump and it may fade. But it does change depending on how hard you turn....
As far as high speed turning..... it seems the sharper the turn the louder of corse at 60-70mph I'm not turning supper hard.......

Also iv noticed that as I come up to a stop it will make this [Jake brake] noise - but not as noticeable.... I think it's the same noise - it not as loud and sounds like something Is running - like a heavy fuel pump or air system...for some reason tho it seem to happen as lower speeds. I apply the brakes at 20mph - and once again you can here the noise - it remains on until the truck has came to a complete stop and has settled [wear it's not trying to roll away] if your facing down hill it will do it.... it's not grinding - I feel nothing in the brakes - no dragging or such..... I'll check out the exhaust.

Thanks guys.

It sounds like it's coming from the right front?

At first I thought it was all coming from the trans but as far as driving it does it only when turning to the right. Even sightly...... my first thought was something with the power steering but it working fine...... fluid is full - did notice the po put trans fluid in it!

If your stopped and reving or such you can't get the noise to come back. It's something to do with momentum and pressure and idk........... it's weird.

Any more ideas?

OK here we go with more weirdness..... I fixed the ebrake today. It was broke and stripped - wouldn't stay engaged.......

I'm setting in Walmart parking lot with the ebrake on...... minding my biz and wait on the girlfriend to get out of the store....... After about a min of setting here the truck idles it's self up to 1000 rpms. If I tap the fuel it's stops but resumes again. After about a min of setting.... that's cool! I guess it's something to help keep the engine warm. It's in the 30s now.......
is this factory?

Lol thanks.

That is completely normal. It does that to help warm up the eng. That is ur EBPV closing to help warm it up.

Ummmm. I thought that to.... but the EBvp is unplugged - I found this out the other day - I was gonna do the exhaust brake mod and found out that it is broke - the plug it's self on the turbo........ ugh things never wanna go right for me.....

I didn't know the ebvp worked in that manner..... I thought it closed off to hold heat in the engine?...... my truck was up to temp and it just idled up to 1k. Instead of 700 or what ever. I also didn't know it turned off when throttle was applied.

Thanks for your time bud.

Update on the noise......
for the first time since I got the truck..... I had no trailer behind me....
The noise is less present with out a trailer....... at higher speeds I have to turn a lot more to the right to even get the noise to start...... ugh.

OK now I'm starting to think this truck may have some hidden secrets......
Like I said - I had no trailer tonight.... I got in it on dry payment at 30mphs and the dang thing started getting sideways around a turn.... did not stay in it long eng to find out how far she would go but it was clear she had a lot more to go.... she really feels like she has some get up and go.

Mine does the same thing and I dont have the EBPV installed but I do have dummy plug on the end of the connector. I'm thinking the PCM dont know any better if its plugged in or unplugged thats why it still does it. I still get a soft code of 0476 for it but no CEL. Do you have a tuner or chip on the truck?

As far as a tunner and or such..... I don't think so..... it runs like it does.lol

IV checked wear the ecm is there nothing plugged into the ecm but the plug for the port is gone - makes me think someone has been there.

Does anyone else ever have the service engine soon light flicker - when going down the highway!
Mine does - I know the light works because I unplugged the oil pressure sensor and it came on.....
But when going 70ish mine will flick for a sec - about ever other mile or so.....
Wierd.

Thank you sir!

What is a good code scanner for thus truck? IV got one but I'm not sure it's playing well with my truck..... I know if I tried doing live date view on my 97 - it would kill the truck.....
is there one that will work all around? Gas and diesel?
I think I'm gonna sale mine - it was a higher end model when it came out!

Thanks guys.
