using a straight-edge across the injectors, will confirm that all injectors are seated equally

When you say you have smoke coming out of the valve cover. First see if you take the oil fill cap off and turn it upside down on fill tube does the crankcase pressure blow the cap off? Next is the smoke is coming out of one valve cover more than the other. Put the oil fill cap on Rt side and disconnect the ccv hose to the intake at the same time to see if it is equal amount of smoke or not. Because it sounds like you have way to much crankcase pressure and if that is the case I can only think of two things that might case that first would be very bad ring blow by which could be confirmed with compression test the second thing would be the injector not seated correctly or copper washer on injector came off. We already confirmed you removed the old copper washers early in the thread..right? Because double copper washer would be a problem. I would think the best way to check that would be pull the valve covers and set a straight edge across the top of injectors and if you are good there then start it up with VC's off and if you are getting compression around the injector You'll know it.

On my old 97 psd - the valve cover ccv had a hose that ran to the air filter hose/tubing. This one does not! It just has a hose hooked to it running back behind the engine. Is this correct?

Thanks again.

I hate remans. Not only are there horror stories all over the forum, I've lived it myself. New for a keeper, reman for a seller. I've had fresh remans and brand new installed back-to-back - new is a different world.

inspect the air intake tube, especially at the "connection" union. There should be, at the bottom of it, an exposed open tube, WHERE an elbow from the ccv doghouse, WOULD have been plumbed to. Sounds like, PO did the ccv delete mod.

Yup. Hope he plugged the hole on the turbo's intake ducting, or else the turbo is getting some unfiltered air, and may be "dusting" the compressor wheel and piston rings.

I plain on keeping this truck for a very long time. What is a good price to have the injectors rebuilt? I can got get them from the scrap yard for 10$ a peace. I thought about getting a set and having them redone!

Thanks bud!

Well if you are keeping the truck don't do reman's like Rich said buy brand NEW injectors. Now if you know a place you can get 7.3 injectors out a 99-03 for $10 you better jump all over that. They are very costly to buy even for a core. But if you have a inside guy on this I'll give you $25 each so I can have for a core charge.

Operating temp: http://youtu.be/Asi0wo-bgFM

Here the video when she is warm. I drove it some more today and still haven't lost any oil. Maybe it was just one of those things.

I think I'm getting air in the system some how - causing the misfire on start up. I let it let for 3 or 4 hours after it warmed up. When I fired it up it has a slight rough running condition but I gave it a good rev and it stopped.

Idk. I'll be checking fuel lines soon!

Is it worth rebuilding/upgarding them? Or should I just buy new?
I understand don't buy remanded but does rebuilding them fall under This rule?

Thanks!

Rebuilt or Reman would fall under the same. But I think you should wait for the guys with more experience with injectors weigh in on that. And Tugly already said what he thinks and he has been though more injectors then most guys. My statement is being made based on everything I have read and stories I have heard. So all I can say is when it comes time for me to replace injectors I am going with NEW AC injectors. But there are many different ways to go when it comes to rebuilt injectors so if that is the way you are going make sure you do your homework.

I would say just keep reading and asking questions that's how you learn. Some guys have had good luck with rebuilt injectors others have not had such luck with remans. The blow by is not that bad but something just didn't sound right.
