i learned today that with the electronic ignition i installed i dont have to worry bout the vacuum advance ,i pulled the vac hoses and capped the ports.
In was going to chastise you, assuming you know little about vacuum advance, but then I saw your 101 and realized I was dead wrong. However, I'm lost as to how the ignition system you installed adjusts for vacuum. Does it have a MAP sensor?
. The vacuum advance mechanism may just need a good oiling to free it up... oil it again each 5 years or so... also, is the mechanical (centrifugal RPM) advance also still in operation? Does the electronic unit need it?
If you have a mechanical distributor with vac advance and the can is trash like as not the distributor itself is worn out too. Bushings wallered out, breaker plate and weight slots worn, gummed up and corroded. Will cause missing at idle and loss of power at all RPM.
