Ive had an 11 deg delta for quite sometime and suddenly it seems I have a 20 deg delta. ECT 182 EOT 202. 2006 model truck. Should I do oil cooler? EGR cooler replacement or delete? Standpipes and dummy plugs while Im in there?
If in doubt, swap them as they are the same sensor. But just looking at the numbers, Id say no, they read about where they should for EOT, ECT is low... indicates the t-stat may be old and worn out, weak spring and time to go.
Installed the new t'stat yesterday and looks like EOT 204,205. ECT 188, 190. So back to the original question. Oil cooler time. Whats the thought on EGR? Replace ? Delete? 2006 model truck. OEM parts?

You are just about there, if you have the funds I would do it. If your not ready, just keep your eyes on it. I was at 20+ over when I replaced my oil cooler... I did all OEM... Don't know if your studded but since there half way there it may be a good time for that. I did not do the EGR delete and opted for new oem. Just my .02
I just did an oil cooler with egr delete because I was pushing a 20 delta. My eot got to 256 while towing a 32 ft camper this summer. I run a 6 delta now.

Yes on the OEM. Are you going to heavy tow with it? I had at one
point thought I was going to go with the external cooler and after some
research and reading more about the unit and all. The price is what pushed
it over to the not going to do side. If you do the flush and get things clean
your risks seem to drop way down. I know that over a weekend we can get
your truck done and install the new cooler. On top of that also install the new
set of stand pipes and dummy plugs. The one odd thing I would like to have
on hand is the 4 head copper washers and the 2 coper washers on the fuel
filter housing. As for the delete I don't trust my TIG ability at this point. I do
have a good cooler that could be welded up if you let me have your old on in
exchange for it. (good as in a non-leaker). The one thing to know before going in
would be if the STC fitting had been done of not. If not then it would be good to
do that while the top is out of the way. I have all the odd ball tools other than the
nipple cup O-ring tool. You only need that if you have a leak. I want to buy one
and may have one soon.
What coolant are you thinking about using?
Trying to think if I missed anything.
Oh and if we have to work on this while
it's cold I do have one of the big Assed
torpedo heaters. Runs on diesel,Kerosene red or clear
and jet fuel.
