I bought a 2008 6.4 one year ago this month. Since I purchased this truck the check engine light comes on and goes off often. The code (which I always check) is p2263. Nothing was wrong with the truck and the light went off after a couple of days. For the last month the truck has only been boosting to 10psi and sounds terrible whenever it is put to work. Pulling the trailer up a hill today it was like it wouldn't produce any power and sounded like there was an exhaust leak (not sure how else to describe it). I learned when I went to look for an EGR valve (that wasn't there) that the DPF on this truck has been deleted. Would that be causing my problem? I live in Michigan and I wonder if anyone knows if it is even legal here in Michigan to sell a truck with a DPF delete on it without disclosure? Any ideas what could be causing this?
conditions must be present for at least 5 seconds for this code to appear. This code is used to detect a charge air cooler hose that has become disconnected. This code can also be set if there is any condition present that would cause low power.
As stated above sounds most definitely like a inter-cooler hose bad or coming loose. That would most definitely make the truck not have boost and sound like you describe.
It is absolutely illegal to sell a truck that is deleted, especially if you purchased it from a dealer.
