I have to meet that guy with the Torino around noonish. But I'll be at the shop until then. I have to see if I can flex the big dent out of the Ranger's driver door before he gets there. I also made a deal with a guy for some truck parts last night. I'm trading those aluminum slots for two doors, a hood, and a fender. Not sure what I need them for, but I'll use those parts before I need a set of Chevy aluminum slots.

What pattern aluminum slots and size? I might be able to sell them for the guy.
alan ole buddy.. what do ya know about a ford ranger about a 2002 or so.. with a 3.0 v/6 has about 160,000 miles on it.. my son-in-law has one and it is running rough he changed the O2 sensor and didn't make a difference... do you have the scan tool that would check it?
Chip. The wheels are mine. I've had them on CL for a while. This guy wants them for his '67 Impala. He's gonna trade some dent parts for them, which A-ok with me.
RC. I know those trucks pretty well. Yeah, I have the scan tool for it. I could've told you an O2 sensor wouldn't change a rough idle. The culprit is more than likely a coil pack going out. It's fairly common on those. It could be as simple as a bad tune up. It still has plugs and wires, too.
Today was a rough day. I got the cowl done on the Thunderstang, a set of hub bearings on a PT cruiser, and welded a plastic intake manifold on that Mazda 3 I fixed.
Well good evening to all, we are home safe and sound and Christmas went very well with all the grand kids and traveling. Looks like all is well with everyone else, glad to read that.
Had a great mini FTE G2G (get to gather) in a Casey's parking lot with a fairly new FTE member "Edmed". Super nice guy, that is a 73-79 Ford truck guy all the way.
Ed was great to meet up with you and hope the parts work out for you. And you have a VERY VERY AWESOME looking 79 4x4 F250 truck! Looking fwd to meeting up again for maybe a early spring G2G with the rest of the Mo chapter gang?
I got a very interesting gift from the x bro inlaw pics tomorrow.....it is too cool.
Good morning folks
Hey Rich
Great to meet you in person! Appreciated the part and insight on the truck.
Got the water pump and radiator done on the 78 so I should be good to go.
Alan, I'm hoping to get an idea of when I can get over to Sparta...I will check this week and next and give you a shout.
Hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas and looking forward to 2015.
Well, the guy came and looked at the trucks yesterday and officially backed out of the trade. He was expecting to get a perfect vehicle for a rotted out basket case. ....good luck with that, buddy. The more I deal with people on this stuff, the more resolve I have to keep my trucks. I have them priced very fairly for their condition and I'm not going to back down for anything anymore. If you want one, pay my price, otherwise, ....the door is that way. -->
I need to get a haircut this morning, then I need some MIG gas, then it's back to cutting, grinding and welding on the Thunderstang.
Good morning everybody. Alan, jagoffs like that guy are why I quit selling vehicles. As for the aluminum slots, my brother is looking for some 15" x8" or wider on a 75 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd 5 on 5" pattern for his 5175 truck.
I know what ya mean alan.. people are hard to deal with.. if ya really want a cool project car I still have that 63 1/2 galaxie 2dr.h/t we can build that nascar clone out of..all ya need is to come get it.... I may be up your way later today I need to go by home depot to get a few things for my construction projects
RC. I need to come get the Chevy before I get the Galaxie. I want to get that in paint so you can make some cash by the time guys are thinking about going muddin' this spring.
The Galaxie is GOING to happen. Just give me a minute to clear some space in the "long term project" side of the shop.
Well - I'm just about ready to start calling people about getting a load of rock or something brought in for the driveway. For the record - the biggest money pit at my place is the driveway. It was poorly engineered therefore grows ruts and holes for fun. The last time around, I paid a fortune for someone to "fix" it only to have it stay fixed for less than a year and most of his work wash into the yard the first time it rained. Argh...
Good luck Dave. I know the PITA of gravel. A buddy is coming out to redo ours early spring...I think. At least the last time ours was done, it stopped the water coming up on the house apron.
The biggest problem is that there was very little to no base rock used when they built up the driveway. When it gets wet, there's nothing in there to prevent the dirt/clay/whatever they used from just washing out or sinking. I dropped several tons of large stone in there several years ago and it just sank it after a bit.
I've got 15-16 tons of 1" base rock coming in sometime today. When that gets packed down, then I'll figure out something else to top it off with to help lock it into place. i hope if I keep pushing enough rock into the soft zones, I'll eventually have a solid base to work with.
Dave, you're getting into something I know little to nothing about other than big rocks and then little rocks to tie it all together. I hope Paco can work some magic with my driveway.
