Lower front shroud

I am talking about that splash guard type thing below the front bumper, that has very little clearance from the ground.

I was thinking of taking it off, for the winter season at least. I am thinking ruts/deep snow trail breaking will make short work of busting it up

Is it a integral piece to the truck? Mine is a 13 f150 fx4 5.0l

It's recommended that it be removed for off roading and such so removing it for winter driving is what I'd do. It is an integral piece of the aerodynamics of the truck but winter time MPG's suck anyway.

Okay thanks Tim

I had a quick look at it when I put my winters on, is it just a few bolts that are holding it up?

Yea my winter mileage takes quite the hit, from 16-16.5l/100km to 19.5l/100 km. But to be fair it has been below -20C for the last half of November, oh well atleast I have remote start lol

You should be able to have it off pretty quickly. My 2010 only had 2 bolts holding it on.

I took mine off 2-3 years ago, didn't like the looks of it hanging down, and never put it back on. I didn't notice any difference in performance or MPG's. YMMV

I took half of mine off in a snow drift and then took the rest off by hand.

Haven't bothered to buy a new one and not really concerned about the MPG that the truck gets (it's acceptable to me).

It's only there for your high speed highway driving. Even then it doesn't make a major difference, especially if you have a leveling kit or lift kit.

I haven't liked the look of it since I bought the truck. Occasionally I read a thread such as this one and it reminds me, but before I have a chance to take it off I forget. I finally took it off today, looks tons better. Not worried about negative effects on MPGs as long as it looks decent.
