My 2001 F250 has been surging at light throttle until I drive it a few miles. I'm in a campground in La so when I leave for work I try to drive slow through the campground. I barely hit the peddle and it takes off, then pauses, repeat.
Runs great if I floor it or set the cruise, it's just the steady throttle that does it, idle rpm's are steady but seems a little rough (skaky) even when warm., fresh oil, new ICP, gets great fuel mileage and has great power. It's just the surging for about 5 miles, plugging it in at night doesn't seem to help only getting down to 50's at night here anyway.
Also I don't know if it has any relation, but i've noticed the ebpv hasn't kicked on in a while.
Was thinking maybe tps, but it only does it when cold. I can replace it since I don't have the adjustable pedals for about $50, but After I drive it for a few miles it acts normal again.
Well I should say I have had the truck since it was new and just now started doing it and it was a chilly 66* here this morning lol.
I really wouldn't consider it a cold related problem but it only does it in the mornings, stay at work for 12 hours and it acts normal.
I have also been using T6 for quite a while, so that's probably not the problem. I cleaned the EBPV and tube a while back and tried to clean the sensor, I am thinking about replacing all that to see if it helps. The EBPV hasn't kicked in in a while, but maybe it's trying too lol. I'm keeping the truck till I win the lottery so I don't mind buying a sensor now and then
Well yesterday I cleaned the tps with some electronics cleaner and it drove smooth as butter! I won't declare it fixed until it gets really cold down here like in the 40's lol.
Think i'll unplug the ebpv too since it doesn't work anyway. Does that trip the ses?

So I think i'm supposed to unplug at the pedestal right? Will it be obvious which one to unplug?
It's the only wires back there. Passenger side if I remember correctly.

Surging isn't normal. It's 30 where I'm at and no issues.
Changing oil won't fix it.
Change TPS and report.
My 97 would surge on cold mornings, like 30 or below. I ran new ground wires from the batteries to the body and motor. After that, no more surge issues with that truck. That was a 97 though.
LOOK TO THE LOWER LEFT OF THE TURBO PEDESTAL. You'll see the solenoid plug. Carefully flip up the metal bale that holds it in place and pull it straight out.
(I would smear both connection ends with dielectric and bag the wiring loom and wire tie it in place away from heat in the event you sell it and want to reinstall.)
That simple.
J, staring at the engine from the radiator. LOOK TO THE LOWER LEFT OF THE TURBO PEDESTAL. You'll see the solenoid plug. No ses and no hard codes. Denny
Thanks!! I'll have to try again when the turbo is cooler lol, 45 minute drive home from work burned my arm trying to reach back there haha.
