Im looking to get keyless entry. Found some cheap ones on amazon that come with the actuators and everything needed for a DIY. Before i go through with it im wondering if it will work with my passenger door whos power door lock does not work for whatever reason. The key is also veryyyy hard to turn. I even feel like sometimes the key is going to break when im turning it. Ill break my thump if i try pushing down the **** on the inside. Your thoughts would be much appreciated!
if the key cylinder in the door is hard to turn,then you need to clean or replace it.same goes for the door handle/push button.clean or replace.
if the pass side door lock doesn't work,then you need to check for power and then replace the actuator if needed.
you'll need to inspect these parts yourself.it's all just follow your nose and start removing things.figuring out how they come apart and taking care to inspect to see if they can be cleaned or if it's best to replace whats needed.it's a good hands on learning experience if you've not done any of it.
if you have power locks already,your looking for a kit like this one;
Double check this thread to make sure you don't already have the module...I had it already and didn't know it and all I had to do was purchase a FOB on eBay for around $10-15 and program it.
yeah but i don't think the optional factory keyless entry began until the '94 model year (the third brake light was introduced the same year,for some more needless info lol) these trucks came pretty stripped down by today's standards didn't they? lol.
hey you'd be surprised.i had to add one of these for my old man.his truck....an '08 f350 PSD XLT! not kidding.it didn't come standard with keyless entry.couldn't believe it.
