Sway bar disconnect

I have a 96 F150 4wd. I would like to be able to quickly disconnect the rear sway bar when going off road. Anybody know of any quick disconnect way of doing this? It flexes the frame too much when crossed up. Thanks.

How bout you take the nuts off one end and drill a hole for a hardened pin of some sort?

Or just carry an impact gun + appropriate size socket and wrench. How often do you offroad this truck?

I have the same truck as you and just took my front and rear swaybars off completely so she can flex a little better. Not worth the extra trouble for me to keep them installed and IMO it didn't really change the handling on the road but I don't drive crazy either. Not on the road anyway... LOL.

Dixie460,
Well, that's good to know. I was just gonna disconnect it for all the time, but someone told me it would handle like a pregnant cow on the highway. I have not tried it yet. I was just taking him at his word. If you've done it, then maybe I will just do it also and see how it drives on the road. Sometimes I drive it on the interstate at 70mph.

Warrior Products might work? I just saw this on another post: http://www.warriorproducts.com/catal...r-disconnects/

Many thanks.

Yeah I do 70 on the highway twice a day to/from work. No handling problems and certainly does not feel like a pregnant cow.

I've swapped really soft springs into my truck that had no sway bars...it is like driving a waterbed.

I'm on the hunt for a front sway bar and the disconnects in the link look to be handy!
