What would it take to put the keypad entry on the passenger door? It seems that everytime I need into my truck I don't have the keys and I am on the passenger side. Can this be tied into the drivers side door without problems?
You can buy the keyless entries from ford that you don't have to do any wiring. I believe the OE one is wired at least for power. The Ford accessories one does not require any wiring and can be attached anywhere on the vehicle. Just put that on and program it to use the same keycode as your original. Then you can open it from either side.
I don't think we have enough info to answer your question. Does your truck have a power door lock? On the passenger side? If it does, did you not get a remote fob? I'm thinking you have a manual lock door. Thus the keypads won't work, as they just send a signal to the factory keyless entry. So if you have factory power locks you would just need to get the fobs. There are actual internal replacement door handles that have the keypad integrated, but I think they are just for driver's side.
The pads that you can buy on e-bay can be put anywhere on the truck, but again, they require the factory keyless be turned on, and of course power locks. They are really just coded non portable fobs that you stick to the truck.
If you just wanted to add a keyless entry, it involves pulling the door panels, and running a few wires. Not a lot of work, but will take all morning. Well worth it to me. I haven't stuffed a key in a lock on my truck in five months, hope to never do it again.
