I replaced my FICM about two months ago from FICMrepair.com with an Atlas 40 tune. I had a toasted ficm before but the truck would try to fire almost immediately. Now, it cranks for 30 seconds plus when trying to start. It has done this since the day i installed it. It starts fine in the cold...other than the long crank , my voltages are 48-49. Batteries are new.
Truck info...06 F350
5" mbrp
Afe intake
Egr delete
Sct tuner running a canned tow tune
Hpop readings are 1040psi cold 590 warmed up at idle
Could this be a ficm programming issue?
Thanks in advance

What are your ICPV's and FICM volts at KOEO and your IPR% and FICM volts while cranking and at hot idle ( EOT of 185* ) ?
Are you using a OEM oil filter? Possibly a too short fliter is allowing all the oil to drain out of the filter housing, thus the LPOP has to fill it before supplying oil to the HPOP. Just a thought.
Koeo FICM voltage is 47.5
Engine warm Ficm voltage is 49
Motorcraft filters always
Like i said...started rough cold with old ficm...several tries needed to stay running. Would fire almost immediately....now, since new FICM, it takes forever to crank. Black fuel smoke at startup for just a second....one big puff...then clear
Issues w/ injectors usually show some whitish smoke at startup. Could be wrong, but it sounds more like it isn't getting enough air to me (black smoke). This could be coincidental w/ the FICM install.
The reason I asked about rpms is that you can have great batteries and still drag a little - things like pulley or tensioner bearings can drag. You need at least 150-200 rpms for a decent startup. Just throwing it out there - hard to know how strong the cranking is across the internet.
Have you used a code reader on it?
Also - contact Ed (FICMrepair.com) and see what he has to say. he is always willing to help folks/customers troubleshoot.

Have you scanned it for codes? You can have DTC's without a check engine light. Also when you installed the FICM did you get audible clicks when you plugged the electrical connectors in to the FICM?
I run torque pro on this truck. I have no lights, no codes, and when it starts, it runs perfectly. All temps and pressures are spot on. Deltas are good. I guess its time to give ed a call
