I put on an 03 turbo as I kept hearing how nice they sounded. I'm glad I live in the country. On high idle it sounds like a jet on the runway. On low idle can't really hear the turbo, just a loud hissing sound. I did get the muffler with the 4" MBRP exhaust though. I'm not even sure its legal for a mid 50's guy to have something that sounds so mean. I can't really grow up when it comes to this truck tho.

Thanks, I do really like the sound. Wonder if I will notice a difference from stock to Matt's SRL+? I am getting turbo boots tomorrow so we will see.

 

They make a fair amount of noise with a stock exhaust. With a 4 inch straight pipe they sound awesome! You hear the jet noise before you hear anything else.

You may have noticed the 03 turbo is pretty popular. I know of guys scouring the country for an 03 turbo to replace the one they got. Just to have that sound.

 

Yep, I was just surpised it is as loud as it is. My old turbo was rusted up so just got this one along with all the other fixes. Can't wait to try my tune, my old turbo boot popped off so ordered new ones. The bottom hot side was so flimsy, it bulged when I gave it some throttle so I didn't trust it.
