Hi, I have an 03 F250 w 6.0. I had the hpop done at the dealer a little while back, and afterwards I noticed that when the truck is idleing I hear a difference in the sound of the idle and exhaust, and when it changes I can hear a hissing sound...kinda like a vacume leak hiss. It comes and goes as if some sort of valve is opening and closing. I am assuming that it the vanes in the turbo doing their sweep, but What about the hissing noise? It is hard to pin point where it is coming from, but I think it is coming from the turbo area. I'm not sure if the truck made this noise before the hpop change or not, because after spending almost $3000.00 I listen for any little noise now lol
Chances are that they updated your pcm flash to the current program and that added the vane sweep strategy, which may not have been there before. If in doubt take it back to them and have them listen to it. Could have a leak too, either way they should fix the prob if there is one.
I had the similar sound. It turned out to be y up pipes not seated well to the turbo. When i had the turbo out i didn't align it right. I unbolted the turbo and reposition the clamp and turbo to the y pipe, also put some anti seize on the clamp then retighten the clamp then the turbo to the mount. Good luck on yours
