Wine and dine

Misleading, more like whine and buy parts.

Developed a whine at idle, and certain throttle RPMS..
Also changes tone when i move the wheels left to right, points to the power steering pump. I also get a groan when im turning and hit a pot hole or a bump of any sort with some speed.

Seeing as the pumps pretty cheap, i just need to make sure these symptoms are signs of a failing pump.. maybe there's some additive? I flushed the fluid about 2 months ago with ATF type F and didn't have a whine then.

I also read that hydroboost can whine and sound like power steering? But would that change when i move the wheels?

Look for slop in the steering sector adjustment and the pitman arm itself.

Yes, both use the power steering pump for hydraulic power. If you leave the steering wheel still and pump the brakes...and the same sounds continue; I would look at your pump and not the gear box.

At idle it hums already, when turning the wheels it gets a bit louder and at full lock it's even more.

Pumping the brakes does not change the tone of the hum

Would this account for my hum at idle? Or are you talking about the groan i hear when hitting a bump while turning?

I don't believe that Type F Mercon is the right fluid for the PS pump is it? I believe it should be Mercon V. Not sure how sensitve they are to the fluid though.

I actually just read my bottle thinking i did something wrong that i DIDN'T put Type F in. I have some Off brand from walmart, a synthetic called Tune it!

Says it meets and exceeds fords Mercon V

Could the fluid be the issues?

I truly do not know how sensitive it would be to fluids - I am generally skeptical of claims to "meet and exceed" though.

Might not hurt to try and get real Mercon V, definitely not buying it from ford though.

Just hope that it didn't do damage if it's the fluids fault, may just get a pump anyways being it's original

Actually I was referring to the bump thump kind of thing. Sorry for not being clearer.
