Lowering help!?

Lowering help!?
So I have heard of people lowing their trucks by taking a leaf out! I have a 1964 f100 and am ready to lower it just a bit (not to the ground). Would taking a leaf out of the front and rear be the best way to get this done? Could taking a leaf out cause damage? Please help!
