Alternator line up issues
I have a 1984 rx7 that i have put a ford 302 into. Everything is basically done. However i am having a tough time with the alternator/water pump. Basically there isnt much clearance in the front of the engine, the water pump would clear with my electric fan and rad but i was unable to get the water pump pully to line up. I guess the pulley i got with the engine was from a different application and so it would not line up. So i got an electric water pump. the electric water pump removes the need for the water pump pull which did not line up. However now i have issues the clearance on the crank pulley. Basically it is too large, i think it is 7 inches in diameter. This causes the electric water pump to not clear the largest slot on the pulley. If i remove the pulley the water pump bolts up fine of course. So what i am thinking i need to do is get a smaller crank pulley, probably 5 inches. Bolt it up and then use the largest sprocket on it to make the alternator charge. But where is the best place to find such a pulley?
Does this sound like it will work? Every time i fix something on this car it creates a new problem. Quite frustrating, but once i have the car's cooling system working it will basically be done. Any help with this is much appreciated.
Also, i noticed that the electric water pump does not have the little lines for the heater core, i suppose i could tap off of the largest two inputs that are visible, am i on the right track with this? It gets sorta cold in the winter here. Also the picture shows one large silver fitting that one hose goes onto. However the other which is not visible has a black plastic piece covering it, i suppose i need to get a silver fitting for it also from somewhere? It would have been nice if it came with two fittings....
Thanks
