I got my coolant flushed and new thermostat today because my coolant was a little on the cool side. (185) When it was all done I was driving home and my temps were still at 185 but it said my eot was 220!!!!! My Eot has never gone that High until yesterday! Do these thermostats need some time to adjust?
185* is typical of a Motorcraft 192* thermostat. For some reason, most of them run too cool right out of the box.
As for 220* oil temps now, sounds like all the crap got flushed out of the cooling system, and went right to the oil cooler and clogged it. Did a Ford dealer flush it and do you know the procedure/chemicals they used?

I agree....
Did you measure the delta driving around town or on the freeway?

Delta before was about 197 eot and 183 ect. I was hoping if I got a new thermostat it would fix the low coolant it would be normal. But now my eot is way higher. That was on the highway.
Been discussed many times that if you flush the cooling system, particularly with a slightly dodgy oil cooler, you end up with a new oil cooler after the original is completely clogged by the crap dislodged by the flush. Not a fan of flushing, particularly reverse flushing. More of a fan of multiple draining and replacing.
