Well I don't know if you guys remember but I posted on here talking how could I clean my coolant reservoir well I did but when I did I slipped out of my butter fingers and cracked where the plug to the windshield washer motor is....mind you this was back in July. The other day I went to wash the windshield and nothing happen I was like hmm maybe a bad connection or blown fuse it was neither I went to disconnect it and it broke in two the motor stayed with the reservoir and the connector and connection came together I looked at the junkyard with no luck to find another well I found a 82 but was a different style. They were both v8's and I have a 300 six. Anyone have any idea who sells them new? I tried lmc and Dennis Carpenter nothing.
Looks like they changed the design in 1984 based on the part number.
Here are some photo of the stock one on my truck. I removed this when I added the tool box storage as it had on bolted on the side of it already.
The newer one [1985 & 1986?] has a press in plug which seals the antifreeze. The earlier ones had a loose opening through which the overflow hose passed. I believe the newer one is superior.
By the way, JimRebel is a decent guy to do business with.
My friend that works at the junkyard called me up today says that they got two more bull noses yesterday so I'm hoping that they have the reservoir he said that there 86s. So I have to check also if my washer motor comes out because even though it's cracked it still holds the washer fluid maybe I could get away with just replacing the motor.
Motors are available aftermarket.
They are retained by a pressed in star washer that digs in to the plastic housing.
Just cut the retainer with dikes and pull it out.
