i have an 84 f 250 sc with 460 went to start truck this morning and tried wipers, but were frozen to windshield, they tried to move but couldnt, after it warmed up and wipers were free tried again but nothing.i checked power at the plug and it has it for low and high speed, wiper motor was replaced 2 months ago,are these motors that sensitive to burn out so easily?
Wow I wouldn't think so...you check the linkage under the cowl....maybe something broke loose? Or you pretty sure the motor just isn't working. I would think it would have blown the fuse before it burned up the motor.
thanks for the link,i have power to the motor,so that should eliminate the switch right?,doing some reading on link i went back out and ran a ground wire from batt post to motor and it works, either my ground for the motor is bad or possibly something inside the motor?
The test has you checking for voltage on two wires (dark blue/orange, and white). Saying only that you have voltage to the motor is too vague for me to answer as you don't indicate which wire(s) have voltage.
If you suspect a bad ground, clean your ground connections from the battery to the engine, engine to body, wiring harness to body, battery to frame (if applicable) and check again.
You should have a ground wire with a mystery pigtail on it from one of the wiper mounting bolts to the back of the driver's side head. There is a ground strap on the wiper itself to the metal insert in one of the rubber bushings, if it has broken then the motor will not have a ground.

red wire has power when switch is on,also low speed wire has power when turned on low, turn on high then blk/org wire has power

that wire is on there as i replaced the motor over christmas vacation, will check for other loose wire, thanks
I have the same problem on mine...they won't go back to original position when you turn them off....have to time it just right.
I replaced the motor and switch...still doing the same thing. I've just come to the conclusion that I will have to keep timing it. Don't see anything else to replace.

The EVTM sends us off to do a Parking Test, conveniently located in a different manual. *grrrrrrr*
Oddly enough, there are 20 pages in the shop manual devoted to the windshield wipers, seems like a lot for such a basic system.
I looked at it pretty quickly, it has you doing various voltage tests at different points. In any event, it seems at least one of your parts is defective, my guess would be the motor....
hmmm....seems odd. When I first got the truck a couple months back this is what is was doing. Eventually it stopped working all together. If I pushed on the motor it would work a little. Come on and off. So I figured there was a short or loose connection in there so I replaced it...just a couple weeks ago. So now they work perfect....just don't park.
