04 6.0 turbo diesel
went to leave work a couple days ago and drove about 100' and truck died. it still turns over like normal just wont start. I pulled code p2285 for icp sensor but I disconnected it like ive read in other post then tried to start. No Luck fuel filter is good. do batteries have anything to do with it.. any other quick ideas before I have it tow to shop. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Yes i only have about 2000 miles on it since the last oil change. It never threw the 2285 code until i unplugged the icp sensor. Check engine light was on with no codes originally so i tried the unplug of icp based off other forums and similiar problems. Any other suggestions.
still no word yet, the shop has valve cover pulled off. they think its and oil pressure problem. they said its not the icp sensor. hopefully its just a seal or o-ring. thanks

Did they do any testing with any gauges before pulling the valve covers? They should have and should be able to tell you what the FICM voltages were. If they immediately proceeded to remove the valve covers with no testing, I would consider taking it to another shop.
Ya they ran their electronics against what the ficm and icp were and it was pointing toward low oil pressure to the injectors so they were pressure checking the system to see exactly where it was coming from.
they found the problem, it was the high pressure oil pump (external) tested it and it was not building pressure. hopefully that's it for sure, don't want to drive off and it die again.

Glad they found the problem. That's typical for an 04 hpop.
