hey guys the other day while driving about 40 miles about 35 miles into it my truck felt like either the trans wasnt sure if it wanted OD or 3rd it felt like the trans was possibly slipping or something like that. to my ears the engine never missed a beat so i took it out of OD drove a little like that and it was still happening. so i put it back into OD and it calmed down. i put my scanner on it and there were no codes. so the following night i drove home with my scanner on it and watched the shift solenoids and the gears. nothing was out of the ordinary and it never acted up. so once i got home i performed a cylinder contribution test and it came up with a cylinder 3 contribution/balance fault.
the code does not come up normally only when i did the test.
does this mean i should look further into the injectors? or another issue? or not even worry?
Depending on which CPS you have, this is likely a false code (it happens). If you want to be sure, you can do a buzz test, check the Cylinder Rotational Velocity (PERDELs) for each injector, or maybe even test the UVCH (link in my signature).
As for the transmission, look at the Torque Converter Slip PID - very telling. You'll see the TCLU doesn't occur until about 35 MPH (foot on throttle).
i forget which one i have i believe i have the grey one and i picked up another but its a dark blue color and never installed that. i did a buzz test and it passed but i did read online on another forum that you can fail for the CCT and pass a buzz test
